Herogasm #3 (of 6)

“From the feel of things, I’m tea-bagging someone and I hope its Invisi-Lass.” This, one of the greatest lines in the history of anything anywhere, was spoken by the Reed Richards stand-in in the latest issue of Herogasm. See, his neck is stretching way outside the window of the hotel to investigate a “disturbance,” so he can’t see what’s happening to his junk exactly. THAT is genius. Come now, who here HASN’T wondered what Reed’s like in the sack?

I’ve been woefully slacking in the Herogasm department, so allow me to catch you up to speed. Herogasm is the annual orgy the supes of the Boys throw under the guise of a massive team-up. A cover story is spun for the public to explain why their heroes are gone for a week and then the Victory Comics writes an epic event telling of their exploits. Of course, there’s no alien invasion. Instead, the supes commandeer an island and drink, snort and screw themselves silly. It is as warped as it sounds.

BUT! This is the Boys, so there’s more than slapstick dick and fart jokes going on. Butcher’s team is at Herogasm (unbeknownst to the supes, of course), but what they’re really there for remains a mystery. This one gets a bit dark after Hughie has a run-in with Black Noir that’s really and truly disturbing, but that’s par for the course at this point. Another point of interest is that this mini is running alongside the ongoing book and each is filling in the gaps of the other. The timing has been perfect and the overall execution is REALLY impressive.

Herogasm may as well have been another arc of the Boys, but I’m fine with it as a mini because it means for six months I get to read two issues of the Boys. And more Boys is never a bad thing… And yes, I know how that sounds.

This one gets 4 out of 5 sewer ambushes.
