PoP!ulation Appreciation Month: MillionDollarGeek
March is PoP! Appreciation Month on PanelsOnPages.com and the entire interwebs, and instead of simply spamming all of the haterz’ Facebook and Twitter feeds with PoP! links, it’s time we gave back to The PoP!ulation, the driving force behind the continued success of PanelsOnPages.com. Every Friday for the month of March, we will be featuring a different member of our extended family, in a segment we’d like to call PoP!ulation Appreciation.
This Week’s PoP!ulation Member: MillionDollarGeek!
Handle: Million Dollar Geek
Name: Ernie
Date Joined: 8/4/09
Date of Birth: 4/29/81
Location: Chicago, IL
Marital Status: Taken and quite stirred.
Hobbies: Working out, reading comics, watching movies that are not out yet on “Blu Ray”, Twittering and Facebooking nonsense.
Favorite Comics: Powers, The Boys, Walking Dead.
Favorite Movies: I watch all genres but I do love Horror and Sci-Fi.
Favorite Television: Southland (the only cop drama or crime drama that I will actually sit and watch the full season of), WWE RAW, reality TV like MTV’s The Challenge, Shameless, Dexter.
Favorite Games: Batman: Arkham City, WWE games.
PoP!: How did you become a member of The PoP!ulation?
MillionDollarGeek: One day I was on Twitter and Jill Pantozzi tweeted that she was going to be on the PoP!-Cast and so I followed her to the chat room and met all you wonderful people.
PoP!: What is your favorite part about being a member of The PoP!ulation?
MillionDollarGeek: Meeting The PoP!ulation at events, merchandise, the PoP! Forums. One day I was looking for a site to sit there and talk about Grey’s Anatomy and Charmed without being judged, and there it was, the PoP! Forums. I love that you can talk about any genre and somebody is right there to talk about it with you. Love you guys! ![]()
PoP!: What is your favorite PoP! memory/anecdote?
MillionDollarGeek: C2E2 2010! It was the first time I ever went to a convention for all three days and got to hung out with The PoP!ulation. Even took the big group picture. It was also the first time I ever cosplayed. I loved those three days.
PoP!: What do you feel is your greatest contributio
n to The PoP!ulation?
MillionDollarGeek: Hashtag #PoPTweetMafia fools. The PoP! Stars and like a small bunch of The PoP!ulation were always tweeting conversations, and I think I may have said “This feels like a Mafia,” and #PoPTweetMafia was born. I still rock out the original #PoPTweetMafia shirt. The second one is never getting touched because Tim Seeley sharpied his Twitter name on it. #PoPTweetMafia lasted for about a year, but if somebody were to bring it back, I bet others would know exactly what it means. #PoPTweetMafia: trend it.
PoP!: What is your favorite aspect of PanelsOnPages.com?
MillionDollarGeek: Podcasts of everything you love. Horror films, wrestling, movies, stuff you didn’t know about a certain movie and how Kevin Bacon is connected to it. I’m connected to Kevin Bacon also… yeah, Brandon told me one day. And then you have the big show, the Hulk Hogan of podcasts, the main event itself. But what I really like is if you miss any of that, [Mahoney] is there to wrap it all up in 30 minutes on LWiP.
PoP!: What is at the top of your nerdy Bucket List?
MillionDollarGeek: Stan Lee. Last year I couldn’t even make it to Chicago Comic Con because it was too expensive, and then I heard he had a heart attack. I was going to cry! Now it is a must that I go to the convention to meet him. Im not going to buy anything else… I just want to shake his hand and give him a hug.
PoP!: What is your favorite nerdy collectible you own, and what is the importance behind it??
MillionDollarGeek: I love Superman so much. My basement is filled with hats, T-shirts, comic books, and memoribilia. When I was little I always wanted to be him, and yes, I was one of those kids that had a towel on their back and flew off the couches when mother said not to. I believe it was during the Georg
e Reeves syndicated episodes and that one I Love Lucy episode that got me wanting to watch him more frequently. And then I begged my mom to get me Superman 1 and 2 on video for my birthday and she did and I was the happiest kid on the block because I got to watch my favorite comic book character come to life as Christopher Reeve.
PoP!: Who would be your dream guest at C2E2?
MillionDollarGeek: I’d say that has already happened with Kevin Conroy showing up in 2010. I’ve met every artist and writer that I wanted to meet. If they can get Stan Lee to show up that would be the ultimate birthday gift. Maybe Mark Hamill, then I can say that I’ve met Batman and The Joker.
PoP!: Where do you see The PoP!ulation in 10 years?
MillionDollarGeek: More podcasts. It’s own tv show line-up. YouTube sensations. Break-ups. Then the drugs kick in. Then probably PoP!ulation Rehab with Dr. Who who will be Kenny dressed in a bow tie. And then finally we have Behind The PoP!ulation where K-Whack will utter the words “WE HAVE TO GO BACK!” and we all end up on a mysterious island because our fans put us there based on a reality show.
PoP!: Where can The PoP!ulation find you on the interwebs?
MillionDollarGeek: Facebook, my workout blog, and Twitter. #PoPTweetMafia BRING IT BACK!
