That’s enough of the basics… let’s really find out what makes you tick. What makes you a Fangirl? Well, I suppose I’ve just been addicted to a lot of pop-culture things all my life.
So what’s one of your earliest memories of your addiction manifesting? Probably when I was a kid and the Harry Potter books first came out. I went to every midnight premiere at the bookstore and would finish reading them by the end of the next day.
Ah, a true Potter-head. With the movies wrapped up, what are your current Fangirl obsessions? Right now I’m obsessed with making new costumes to wear at conventions. I currently have Poison Ivy and Sally (Nightmare Before Christmas) costumes that I’ve made on my own. I’m currently working on a Zatanna getup and I think after that I may attempt a female Edward Scissorhands!
Rule 63 at it’s best! What’s the most Fangirl-ish thing you’ve ever done? Oh, I don’t know… maybe checking every store in the area every single day for rare action figures when they come out!
Hey… that’s not Fangirl-ish. That’s just good sense! That or dropping everything and flying out to New York to watch The Pee Wee Herman Broadway show!
Well THAT certainly counts. Traveling for your obsession is a true sign of dedication. Speaking of, what is your biggest geek-out moment? I went to Universal Studios last Christmas and started crying when I walked into The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. After being such a big fan of the books and movies, seeing that world really come to life was so incredible.
That’s … kind of adorable, actually. So, with that out of the way, what’s your wildest Fangirl dream? To co-star with Chris Hemsworth in Thor 2.
Again, I can’t fault you for that in the least. He’s dreamy!
How has being a Fangirl affected other aspects of your life? It has made me very confident and very outgoing. It has made me realize that everyone isn’t into the same things. Some people are into sports… I’m into all this stuff.
I’ve always said that sports fans are just a different kind of geek. It’s taught me not to judge people if they like things that I don’t like. A lot of people think cosplaying and comics are for little kids, but they don’t realize it’s a huge society for adults and kids alike. So I try to see the good side of everything and try to understand people better.
Speaking of cosplay, we’ve seen you at the cons dressed as Batman villainess, Poison Ivy. You wake up one morning, you’re in Gotham City, and it’s not just a costume anymore… what would you do? I would turn Gotham City into a gigantic garden! I would get rid of all that pollution and force the citizens to be closer to Mother Nature.
Hmmm… sounds like this is more than just a costume choice – do you have a strong connection with the character? I know this sounds a little typical, but I like plants a lot. I have a venus flytrap named Cleopatra; she is getting bigger and bigger by the week.
Fair warning, if any costumed heroes go missing (or sadistic dentists, for that matter), I’m sending the authorities your way. Is there anyone else you’d love to take on for a future cosplay? I would love to take on Zatanna one day.
You can’t go wrong with black fishnets, right? In or out of costume, the PoP!ulation will likely best know you as Mike Champion’s booth babe/partner in crime. How did that come about? I saw him at a few conventions. He was looking for a girl who would be fun and easy to work with at his booth, and he figured I’d be the perfect candidate! I’ve been working with him for about a year now.
I understand you’ve started taking more of an active role with managing the booth… What does the future hold for this dynamic duo? Yes, I have done two shows completely on my own, while Champ is busy drawing at home. We’re trying to have me handle the business end of things so he has time to draw and create new prints. Another active role I’ll be taking is the lead reference model for some of the upcoming prints.
And who is Rhianna when she’s not Epic Studios’ lead ego-wrangler? I am also the assistant to the magician/ mentalist/ hypnotist RaZor the Mysterious. I have a lot of fun with that. I have also been attempting to write a book! Oh, and I’m working on some fire eating, too =)
That’s hot. So where can people find you online? The easiest place would be my Facebook page. It’s my favorite place to stay in touch with people and get to know others.
And there you have her, PoP!ulation – our June 2012 Fangirl of the Month; a little late, but worth the wait!

Lead Ego-Wrangler. We’re officially adding that to her job title…
I love the halo over her head standing next to Mr. Thor.
Because pictures with Hemsworth needed a little something extra to make them special.
CHAMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fort Worth, represent!
Although not quite as prestigious as getting to party in Suite Awesome with us, congrats on this slightly lesser achievement! ;D
Woo, awesomeness. Love ya Rhi!
