New Flix on Netflix – June 2012
We all know what Netflix is, but we never know what to watch. Without a great way to keep track of all the new titles available to watch instantly it’s pretty easy to overlook something awesome. But have no fear - Panels On Pages is here to keep you up to date on the coolest New Flix on Netflix.
Welcome back, kiddos. I might have a baby right now, who knows? If I do, you can be sure of one thing – I’m going to be watching at least SOME of these shows during late night feedings. There’s no time to waste, so let’s just jump right in to the latest Netflix Instant offerings since the last time we spoke.
Drive - Look, it’s awesome, alright. Just go watch it already.
Transformers Beast Wars - Keep your eye out for my favorite character: The Beast Redder
Jon Benjamin Has a Van - There’s free candy inside. Your mom said it was okay.
Saving Silverman - The greatest movie ever.
Rounders - Matt Damon, Edward Norton, and John Malkovich in a movie about poker? Yes please.
Super Hero Squad - There’s an episode with Hawkeye, right? I’m sure there is.
The Cable Guy - If you don’t have fond memories, give it another shot.
Best in Show - A hysterical Christopher Guest “documentary” about dog shows.
Extract - An all-star cast and Mike Judge. What’s not to love?
First Knight - Sean Connery puts on a fake British accent to play King Arthur, and Richard Gere just talks like he’s from Philly.
S.W.A.T. - G.R.E.A.T.
Killer Elite - Hey Jason Statham, you wanna be best friends?
Lethal Weapon - This is the first step in getting Lethal Weapon 5 to streaming.
Cutthroat Island - One of the biggest box office failures in history. Pretty sure Taylor Kitsch was an extra.
The Killer Inside Me - Casey Affleck spanks the SHIT out of Jessica Alba. Not literally. At least I don’t think so.
Play Misty For Me - Bitches be crazy, right Clint Eastwood?
Gothika - Bitches be crazy, right Halle Berry?
Fallen - A hidden gem. Give this one a watch ASAP.
Misery - The Stephen King classic.
The Faculty - The Jordana Brewster classic.
Land of the Dead - I’m still waiting for the sequel, The Land of the Dead Before Time.
Teaching Mrs. Tingle - Remember when Katie Holmes was in movies?
Parts 1, 2, and (strangely) 7 are already available, but now we’ve got the complete set:
Friday the 13th: Part 4: The Final Chapter
Friday the 13th: Part 6: Jason Lives
Friday the 13th: Part 8: Jason Takes Manhattan
She’s All That - Remember when Freddie Prinze Jr. was in movies?
Wild Wild West - You should go ahead and watch this, because with Men In Black 3′s success we’ll probably get another one.
The General’s Daughter - Before he was flirting with his masseuse, he was…doing whatever he does in this movie. Flirting with the general’s daughter? Or maybe he’s the general? I don’t know.
The Patriot - This movie feels totally different when you realize he’s pretending all the British redcoats are Jewish…
54 - You can’t watch this. Not with that shirt.
Chain Reaction - Keanu Reeves invents cold fusion. With science. And math. And crystals.
Changing Lanes - Samuel L Jackson is tired of all these motherfucking Ben Afflecks in his motherfucking lane.
Ballistic: Ecks vs Sever - Remember when Lucy Lui was in movies?
Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within - It’s about that game that people like. The one that isn’t as good as The Legend of Zelda.
Superfly - No, it’s not about the Greatest Comic Shop in the world, but it may educate you in the ways of the Douglas.
Nude Nuns With Big Guns - C’mon, how do you NOT watch this?
Natural Born Killers: Director’s Cut - I saw Woody Harrelson in an airport once. True story.
Lost in Translation - Introducing Scarlet Johanasson in the Black Widow’s first undercover mission.
The Pianist - For those of you with fancier tastes.
Apocalypse Now: Redux - An all-time classic.
Shakespeare in Love - How about those shorts in The Avengers, huh?
And some new seasons of fan favorites:
There you have it PoP!ulation. Spread the word. Tell your friends. And stay up to date on all the releases that happen between now and next month by following our thread in the forums or by following the #NewFlixOnNetflix hastag on Twitter – you’ll get a head start on watching all the newest releases. Happy viewing!
A quick disclaimer – as some of these titles have just been released this morning, they may not be truly available to watch instantly until later in the day. Or maybe tomorrow. But they’ll be there. And when they’re there, you should watch them.

The Killer Inside Me is flat out disturbing… But also, pretty awesome…
I’m glad that’s finally on streaming…I’ve been meaning to check that out. Same with Extract. And my kids will be very happy to know that Super Hero Squad is now on Netflix.
Extract was pretty awful, IMHO. Word of warning.
I thought I was the only one who thought Extract sucked. *high five*
We just happened to have the TV on Comedy Central when it was premiering….sat through the whole thing. Then, they started replaying it. We changed the channel SO fast.
I dont see teaching mrs tingle on netflix..?
I didn’t care for Drive. I thought it was pretty slow paced, and Baby Goose has shown better acting. When Albert Brooks is stealing the show, something is wrong.
Fallen, however, WAS a great film.
Albert Brooks was incredible in Drive…I’m still pissed that he didn’t get an Oscar nomination. Gosling’s performance was perfect for the role IMHO.
I’ll share the love for Fallen. I actually wrote a short story in high school that had a similar plot a few years before that movie came out, but I can’t be too mad at the movie, because that story was partially inspired by the Proteus storyline from X-Men.
Whether Gosling phoned it in, or the character just wasn’t interesting to begin with.. it can go either way for me. The movie just didn’t have a hook. Sure, it had some brutal scenes but it needed more than that to save it. In my opinion, at least.
Teaching Mrs Tingle should be there now. Sometimes they delay the release by a few days for some unknown reason.
