C2E2 Panel News – Dark Horse Spring Fever!

Check out these great new offerings from Dark Horse Comics, announced at C2E2 2012!

Gaming Comics

  • Mass Effect: Homeworlds is a new series coming out on April 25th.
  • Dragon Age: The Silent Grove is scheduled for Summer 2012.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer

  • Buffy is fighting zombie-like vampires.
  • New series: Angel and Faith written by Christos Gage and drawn by Rebekah Isaacs.
  • There will be two new Buffy spinoffs in 2012.
    • New Willow series – On sale Nov 21
    • New Spike series – Fall 2012
  • The Drusilla series is currently on an indefinite hold.

Conan

  • The Massive – June 2012

Star Wars

  • Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi is the Dark Horse sellout new series. This series details the origins of the Jedi.
  • Boba Fett Is Dead is an upcoming series focusing on the Fett family after Boba Fett’s death. It is the story of Connor Freeman, the son of another Jango Fett clone.

The Goon

  • The Goon will be moving from a bimonthly series to a monthly series.
  • Creator Eric Powell says that this was done to get in three trades per year instead of 1.5 as a bimonthly series.
  • The monthly series begins next week, Wednesday, April 18th.

Battlepug

  • The webcomic Battlepug is now in print!
  • On sale July 4th
  • Creator Mike Norton can be found at C2E2 this weekend at booths D1 and D2.

Alabaster

  • Alabaster is a brand new series that debuted in stores last Wednesday.
  • This story is based upon a character first introduced in Prose.
  • There will be Alabaster shorts in Dark Horse’s Free Comic Book Day books.

The Massive

  • The Massive is a book by Brian Wood and Kristian Donaldson.
  • It is the story of a crew of environmentalists set adrift after the end of the world, and what people of that profession will be doing once the Earth is destroyed.
  • This book will be similar in tone to DMZ.
  • On sale June 13th.
  • Three early chapters can be found in Dark Horse Anthologies 8, 9, and 10.

Colder

  • New creator owned book by Paul Tobin and Juan Fererra.
  • This is one of the flagship books of Dark Horse’s new horror comic line coming out late 2012.

Ex Sanguine

  • New horror series by Tim Seeley.
  • This book answers the question: Who would be the perfect girl for a vampire? Not Bella Swan, but a  serial killer.
  • On sale Nov 28th.

Orchid

  • Tom Morello stopped by to talk about Orchid. No news to report.

Umbrella Academy

  • No more Umbrella Academy books slated for the future, but Dark Horse is working to make animated comics.
  • The first Free Comic Book Day Umbrella Academy story has been redrawn as a motion comic and released on “Dark Horse Motion Comics” on Felicia Day’s Geek and Sundry channel.
