Danai Gurira joins the cast of The Walking Dead

Following tonight’s dramatic finale of season two of The Walking Dead, Executive Producer Robert Kirkman revealed on the Talking Dead that actress Danai Gurira has joined the cast of the show to play Michonne in season three.
Gurira has been appearing on HBO’s Treme, the series focusing on the New Orleans neighborhood of the same name following Hurricane Katrina. She also played “Woman in Blue Dress” in 2010′s 3 Backyards.

FUCKING AWESOME!!!! One of my favorite characters from the comics!!!!! I can’t wait to see her in the 3rd season. Just finished season 2 and wow, I loved her appearance in the last episode, even if it was brief. FINALLY!!!! Now I am seriously stocked for season 3. Do we have to wait till a year goes by again for the next season?

I’m glad Michonne will be joining the cast. She’s my favorite character in the comic.
When she showed up in that season finale, I shouted out “YES!” very loudly. I may have woken up the neighbors. Kudos to all those involved for keeping that scene under wraps.
I know! Best shot ever for the episode. The swoosh of the sword and then there she is!!!! I almost didn’t believe it for a second. Then I cheered.
I wasn’t sure if the show would use Michonne because of the sword. That may have been perhaps too “comic bookish” for television. But I’m glad they kept it. It just adds another level of craziness!
That was a huge mark-out moment. Nice to see the face under the hood. I’m can’t wait for season 3 to start.
