Sketch Up! – March 2012
The focus of this edition of Sketch Up! is no stranger to Panels On Pages. She is a former Fan Girl of the Month and the inaugural Fangirl of the Year. She is also one of the lovely co-hosts of The Princess Cast. If you are not careful she will go stabby on you. Fanboys and Fangirls PoP! presents the sketch collection of the Catwoman obsessed Lisa “Spazzy” McCarty.
“If you don’t know me, after this gallery you should be able to tell that I love Catwoman, and pretty much the whole Bat Universe. I started collecting art in 2009, mainly focusing on Catwoman, but lately I have ventured out and started collecting other characters that I have always loved. I have some Harry Potter, Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, Batman, Fables, Black Cat, Mary Jane, Zatanna and more!” – Lisa “Spazzy” McCarty
This isn’t the first Jim Balent art commission I received from him, but it has special meaning to me. I started reading comics during his art run on Catwoman. Here we have Catty ‘caught’ with Robin’s briefs. I love everything about this piece. Her expression of being caught is beautiful and I love just love it. The colors are just beautiful. – Lisa
Richard has a great style and I was excited to get on his commission list last year. This piece is beautifully done with a little added surprise by Batman peeking at Catwoman. The cool copic markers really add to the definition of curves and I couldn’t ask for a better piece. You can really see the depth in the detail added by the colors. – Lisa
What if Catwoman had to house sit Dex-Starr? Obviously it did not go over so well. This is just a great and fun piece that Adam did for me. I let him come up with the idea and he kept asking me questions. Normally when I think of Catwoman and Dex-Starr I think that they would get along, so I love the humor in this piece! – Lisa
This was one of my first commission pieces ever and Gene was such a great choice. He listened to my ideas, came up with a couple of preliminary sketches and this was my favorite of them. If you want to start collecting, Gene is the artist to hit up. He was so great I have 15 other pieces from him and counting. – Lisa
Here is just a very sweet picture of Catwoman, or rather Selina Kyle. Here we have Selina curled up after a night on the prowl, or that’s how I like to think of it. Her head gear is in the background and her piercing green eyes show she is Catwoman. I’ve had debates about it. So elegant! – Lisa
I finally got to meet Andy and his wife Alice, and they are AMAZING. So my first sketch of the con went to him. He wanted to do a costume that hadn’t been done yet, and so he created her Adam West Costume. I think he really loves this costume as he draws this costume a lot. – Lisa
Sara’s drawing style is one that is unique and colorful. I asked her to draw me a Catwoman and she wanted to know which costume. I told her I wanted to be surprised, and that she did. I think this is the first B:TAS Catwoman that I have and I love it. The moon in the background is the best! – Lisa
This is my second piece from Agnes. I asked her to draw a fun scene of Catwoman and Dex-Starr and pretty much let her run with it. I had no idea it would be this cute! One of my favorite pieces in my collection! – Lisa
Michael decided to do some 1887 steampunk pinups. I have always wondered what a Catwoman would look like.. He finally did 2 at the Baltimore Comic Con, and I asked if he would do one more.
He really exceeded my expectations. I just love it! – Lisa
This was an amazing gift from one of my best friend, Spaced! She had Sean draw and digitally color this piece for me for Christmas! I love the symbolism! – Lisa
This was an amazing gift from one of my best friends, Sapphire! This has a great story behind it. Andres posted this on his deviantART page before I received it. Loving it on DA, I reposted it a couple of places and Sapphire though I received it. When she found out I hadn’t, she was upset that the surprise would be ruined. I was still surprised as hell that it was mine when I opened the package! I thought the kitties looked like Ryoko and Pooka (my kitties) and turns out, they are! – Lisa
This is a pin up of yours truly. Mark got my normal nerdy attire and cat ears hat down to the tee! Love it! Drawn by Mark and colored by Chris, this was a very nice gift. One of my absolute favorites! – Lisa
