DAMN YOUSE!  GOD DAMN YOUSE ALL TO HELL!

These aren’t the kind of apes that hang out with Clint Eastwood, nor fall in love with a hot blonde actress, or even those of the Grape variety.  These apes will <censored> your <censored> in the <censored> with a rudimentary tool.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes is the origin story of the classic 20th Century Fox film franchise, Planet of the Apes, made famous by Charleton Heston and Roddy McDowall, and then laughably updated in 2001 by Tim Burton and Marky Mark (sans Funky Bunch).  This go-round, James Franco plays a scientist (lulz) who has created a cure for Alzheimers, but in turn, has made his primate test subjects mutate into smarter, power-hungry poo-flingers.  Peter Jackson’s Weta Digital will be providing the simian actors, including Andy Serkis (Lord of the Rings’ Gollum) as lead-ape, Ceaser.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes, directed by Rupert Wyatt, also stars Freida Pinto, John Lithgow, and Brian Cox, and will swing into theaters on August 5th, 2011.

    As an honest to god thriller, this interests me. Although it looks like it should have been the plot to The Flash.

    This movie does look really badass. I am really interested to see if they try to link it to a new mythology with a new Planet of the Apes series? Also…how does this relate to the Flash at all?

      The Apes in this one just REALLY make me think of Gorilla Grodd. The effects look so good, it would’ve been fun – had I NOT known this was Rise of the PotA – to suddenly see Flash run in to the rescue.

    I like the look of this.
    I really hope it’s not just an effects laden sci-fi romp – please let there be a good story in there too.

    But on the strength of the trailer I have high hopes.
