Marvel Unveils Vengeance Creative Team
“You might be able to change the world, and these kids are going after that idea with a vengeance.” -Nick Dragotta
Vengeance is a six issue mini coming to us in July from writer Joe Casey, artist Nick Dragotta, and colorist Brad Simpson. The big kicker is beautiful covers by Gabrielle Dell’Otto!!! Those are posted below and as images in this article. Also in the gallery are some character designs from the book.
This series explores villainy through the eyes of the next generation of Marvel’s villains. Marvel was nice enough to do a new live blog with Joe Casey and Nick Dragotta to give us more info on this project. Here’s some of the specifics:
- 6 Issues starting in July. Side story commenting on what is going on in the Marvel Universe, but stands alone.
- In the first eight pages they go to Hitler’s Germany, the most insane nightclub, the Nine Dimensions, and a homeless shelter.
- The classic Marvel villains they’re using and where they’re at at the moment provides a throughline and a backdrop for the story. They reflect how fluid the Marvel Universe is, and how it evolves. The reaction of the young characters to the villains is the driving force. Those classic villains will be Magneto, Loki, Dock Ock, Bullseye, Dr. Doom, and the Red Skull.
- Bulk of the story takes place in the modern Marvel Universe, some of it in WWII, with other locales hinted at.
- With each cover expect to be in that villain’s wheelhouse. IE: The Dock Ock covered issue will be a street level story, etc.
- Only two of the new characters have had their names revealed, Miss America and Ultimate Nullifier, they did not say which of the character designs they were.
- Lady Bullseye will be in the Bullseye issue. Part of that issue will explore if she is a worthy successor to one of Marvel’s deadliest villains.
- Besides seeing these character’s views on the villains, you will also see what they think of Marvel’s heroes as well.
- Title is a nod to Acts of Vengeance.
- The characters will evolve during the story, and at least one will die.
- This series will also debut a new Teen Brigade.
- A lot of the characters are a nod to some of those Joe Casey has worked with before, Stacy X, Nighthawk, ETC.

Yeah I like the designs too. I’m really excited about the actual storyline though. The Dell’Otto covers are just the icing on the cake.
