PoP!: Nissa, for those that couldn’t make it to the PanelsOnPages.com Fangirl of the Month Contest at C2e2, What makes you a Fangirl?
Nissa: I love all of the comic book movies, even the bad ones. I cosplay, I read manga and comics, and I have LARPed, but I’m better now. I also play way more video games then I should, but less then I’d like.
PoP!: How long have you been a Fangirl?
Nissa: It all started the first time I cosplayed, or more accurately, my Halloween costume in kindergarten. Thanks mostly to the influence from the original X-Men cartoon, I went as Storm. If that’s not Fangirl-ish enough for you, at that age, I was also getting up at five in the morning to watch episodes of Sailor Moon.
PoP!: What toys did you play with as a kid?
Nissa: Action figures, Littlest Pet Shop, Jurassic Park dinosaurs, especially the Pachycephalosaurus. He was the coolest one.
PoP!: What are your current Fangirl obsessions?
Nissa: Trigun. I’m really excited about the upcoming movie, and I just got a Vash the Stampede figurine. I love changing his poses and playing with all of his little extras. I am also completely geeking out over Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. I tried to find all the references and guess which ones my friends didn’t catch; the Super Saiyan is the most overlooked so far.
PoP!: What is the most Fangirl-ish thing you’ve ever done?
Nissa: The last costume I made was Link from The Legend of Zelda, and I had to choose fashion or function for the character. Link is left handed, meaning that his shield is on his right arm. I on the other hand, am right handed. I went with function, but it actually kind of hurt to do it. That, and I could only take a fraction of his arsenal; I really need to get a chicken.
PoP!: What has been your biggest Geek-Out Moment?
Nissa: That would have to be the first time I saw Wolverine Origins, and reveling in every second that Wade Wilson was on screen. Note that I said Wade Wilson, not that other thing that came later. It was just a phase. His upcoming movie will have nothing to do with that travesty. Remember kids, Just Say No to Barakapool.
PoP!: How has being a Fangirl affected other aspects of your life?
Nissa: Well, some girls play the piano, and some girls play soccer, I play Resident Evil. I don’t really see a problem, as long as you are with people who share your overpowering fear of the chainsaw men.
PoP!: Where can people find you on the ol’ internets?
Nissa: Um…not many places. I don’t have a web site and I barely check the networking sites, so… I guess you’ll have to look for me at a con!
Thanks, Nissa, for helping us kick 2011 off in style!
Be sure to check Nissa out as the cover girl and January Fangirl of the Month in our 2011 PoP! Fangirl of the Month Calendar, now available for purchase!
