PoP!: Right off the bat, Katrina, please enlighten us:  What makes you a Fangirl?

Action Flick Chick: I love and support all things “nerdy”. I am truly devoted to action movies, to an almost unhealthy extent. On top of all that, I love to play video games and read graphic novels.

PoP!: Have you been a lifelong Fangirl?

Action Flick Chick: I’m fairly new to the awesome world of “Fangirlism.” I was introduced to video games when I was little because of my two older brothers. However, I kind of lost touch with the “geek world” during high school. In college, some new friends helped me realize where I truly belonged and reawakened my inner nerdy self.

PoP!: Second only to fanboy fathers, we can thank the older brothers of the world for keeping the Fangirl bloodline alive.  What other awesome toys did you play with as a kid?

Action Flick Chick: G.I. Joes and a BB gun – two great tastes combined!

910fgotm16PoP!: Besides taking out Beachhead with a Red Rider, do you have a favorite childhood geek-memory?

Action Flick Chick: When I was little, I would visit my cousins a couple times a year. I always looked forward to these visits because me and my two brothers, my cousin, and his sister would all pile into my cousin’s tiny room and play Nintendo all day long. Well, until we got into fights over whose turn it was, and then our parents would throw us all outside. Contra and Cave Men Games were two of our favorites.

PoP!: From old school to new school, what are your current Fangirl obsessions?

Action Flick Chick: Zombies, in movies and in video games. I’ve also really gotten into Scott Pilgrim lately. I’ve read the books, loved the movie, and am currently playing the video game! And of course, I’m obsessed with all things action.

910fgotm03PoP!: What is the most Fangirl-ish thing you’ve ever done?

Action Flick Chick: Well, at San Diego Comic Con this year, I waited in line for 2-3 hours for The Expendables panel. It was the most fantastic thing I have ever seen! I was standing right beside the stage in the press area, and I felt like a 13-year-old girl waiting for Justin Bieber to come out on stage. The panel had Sylvester Stallone, Dolph Lundgren, Terry Crews, Steve Austin, Randy Couture, and Bruce Willis even made an appearance. I took a million pictures, stared in awe, and talked about it for the rest of the trip. Hell, I’m still talking about it. Later, a movie theater had life size card board cutouts of the guys from The Expendables. I hugged cardboard Stallone and took several pictures with it. I can admit to it, I’m comfortable in my nerdiness!

PoP!: What has been your biggest Geek-Out Moment?

Action Flick Chick: I lost the better part of the day playing Plants Vs. Zombies Survival Mode this one time. I kept telling myself, “Just one more flag, this is the last one. Ok, now this is the last one.” I was so focused on the game that I started tensing up and yelling at it, and my friends had to pull me away from the screen to prevent a gaming coma. The next day my arm was killing me.

PoP!: How has being a Fangirl affected other aspects of your life?

910fgotm13

Action Flick Chick: I’ve been able to connect with so many more people than ever before just because we have common interests. I wassitting next to a stranger one day and I heard him say something about a video game. So, I took the chance of asking him what he played, which lead to us having a long, in depth conversation about games. We exchanged gamer-tags, and we’ve been pwning noobs on X-Box Live ever since. Also, I am just happier with life. Us “nerds” have created our own world where we can be comfortable and proud of whatever our passions are, whether they’re action films, video games, comic books, and anything else awesome.

PoP!:  We like to play a little game on PoP! called Fuck, Marry, Kill.  It’s pretty self-explanatory.  Your choices, as the Action Flick Chick, are:  John McClane (Die Hard), John Rambo (Rambo), and The T-100 (Terminator).  Do your worst!

Action Flick Chick:

Fuck: John McClane – He’s hot and legendary but has already proven that he wouldn’t be a good husband.

Marry: John Rambo – I could screw him for life!

Kill: T-100 – Duh, he’s a baddie and I could use a good challenge.

PoP!: Where can people find the Action Flick Chick on the ol’ internets?

Action Flick Chick: My website is www.actionflickchick.com. I just started an Action Chick TV series you can find on my YouTube channel Action Flick Chick. You can find me on Facebook at Action Flick Chick or Kat Hill and on Twitter as @actionchick!
