Holy Crap! Remember… Too Much Coffee Man!?
Ah, nostalgia! Be it that old cartoon, a favorite toy or a comic book from days gone by, isn’t it great, when out of the blue, the memories come flooding back, and you’ve no choice but to exclaim “Holy Crap! Remember…?”
This one’s a bit of a trick question, because you might not even have been familiar with Too Much Coffee Man to begin with. If that’s the case, however, that’s a shame.
Brought to us by Shannon Wheeler and Adhesive Comics, TMCM is a rotund man with a cup of coffee seemingly growing out of his head. His strips are laden with highbrow comedy and non sequiturs, along with the occasional bit of silliness for fun.
This irreverent modern-day hero who’s often paralyzed by his own fear of – well, everything – has even gone so far as to star in his own Converse commercial, though I can’t for the life of me find it anywhere. Short but sweet, he discovers he’s out of filters and uses his Converse sneaker instead. One sip of the coffee and, if I remember correctly, he explodes. Good times, and exactly what you should expect from the comics.
If the idea of the commercial isn’t mind-blowing enough for you, consider this: TMCM beat Spider-Man out to become the first comic character to have an opera based on him. Suck it, Parker. Don’t believe me?
You’re welcome.

I don’t remember when I saw this cover or read about this strip, but it was either when someone posted about it on WUMB or I found it on Google while looking for MADtv’s Java Man.
I think I remember seeing him pop-up sporadically in Wizard.
