All Points Bulletin to the PoP!ulation!
Everyone’s favorite resident PoP! Webhead, Peter Norbot, and his lovely wife, Amy, are participating in the upcoming Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Light The Night Walk on September 12, 2009, at the Lisle Community Park in Lisle, IL.
Here’s some info on Light the Night:
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light The Night Walk is the nation’s night to pay tribute and bring hope to people battling cancer. Walks take place in communities throughout the United States and Canada, typically in the fall. On these special nights, thousands of participants carry illuminated balloons and raise funds for vital, lifesaving research and patient services.
Anyone can take part – children, adults and seniors are all welcome. This is a casual fundraising walk with no fitness requirements. There are many ways you can help. You can register to walk individually or, even better, as part of a team; just make a donation online; or become a volunteer or sponsor/partner.
Funds raised through Light The Night Walk support the work of hundreds of the world’s best and brightest researchers in their search for better therapies and cures for leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma.
Please, if you have a moment, visit Peter and Amy’s fundraising homepage HERE. Donations are welcomed and encouraged; also, anyone interested in joining in on the walk with Team Willpower will be treated to drinks and snacks! Help support a good cause, and support our buddy Pete, a legit survivor and hero to many.
And now a word from Peter:
I like to thank the wonderful people at PoP! for letting me explain what the Light the Night Walk is. Light The Night Walk is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s evening walk and fundraising event. It is the nation’s night to pay tribute and bring hope to thousands of people battling blood cancers and to commemorate loved ones lost.
The event itself has risen thousands of dollars each year to help people who have been battling different kinds of blood cancers and brings hope throughout the nation. The event consists of a two-mile walk with music, entertainment and free food. You really can’t go wrong with that. I have personally witnessed the love and support each person brings to this event, and if all of you are wondering, this event DOES bring hope and help. So let’s recap, entertainment, free food, exercise and helping people. I call that an epic win in my book.
In 2004 I was diagnosed with Leukemia, and with the help of this fund, wonderful doctors and nurses, and the support of my family and friends, I am pleased to announce that in 2008 I was cured from this horrible disease. The fight does still continue though for the war is far from over, but with a little help, you CAN make a difference. Here’s how.
1) Walk with me or at any Light the Night event that is happening in your area, or you can also volunteer for this event by visiting their website, http://www.lightthenight.org. It really means the world to anyone if you walk with them or for them. I will be participating in the walk that is being held on September 12, in Lisle, IL.
2) If you would like to make a donation to this event, please visit my donation page at http://pages.lightthenight.org/il/WSuburbn09/gato923.
You can stay strong. You can make a difference. You can be an inspiration. It’s not hard; all it takes is a little willpower and anything is possible. Thank you all so much for your time, and I hope to see you there.
Peter.
Keep an eye out for Peter in the upcoming Chicago Comic-Con video coverage!
